The following photos and videos show the toe chopped off, and the horse pretty comfortable. He's a little slower in the first video, but about 2 weeks before we had a discussion about putting him to sleep, so I think a slow walk is a win.

He is in boots and pads, but also, he has a fairly big hole in the sole where you can see corium, so boots were required. They keep him comfortable and protected from a stone getting in the hole.

The hole you can see underneath the apex of the frog, is where the pedal bone came though 2 weeks ago.

I don't have a clue why I'm missing the left fore sole shot. So I've replaced it with a pic of the man himself. Admire the squareness of his stance.

Top xrays were take 29th Dec. You can see how little sole was under the tip of the pedal bone. In fact, from the outside you could see the corium. There was no sole. But the height of the wall, was raising the sole off the ground.

You can also see, how far out in front of the pedal bone the wall is.
