Who Am I??!?!
I'm a practicing Equine Podiatrist with over 15 years experience, author, and educator.
Through my blog posts, courses, books and the Academy I'm here to show you how to simplify your horse’s management painlessly so you feel in control and have a straightforward system that works for you.
I've worked with competition horses, happy hackers and pasture ornaments, providing complete rehabilitation, ongoing maintenance or simply a more streamlined and manageable approach.
When I'm not working you can find me playing with my horses, watching geeky sci-fi or baking epic cakes.
How I Got Here…
Prior to running Hoof Geek I was an Equine Podiatrist working with horse owners to solve their horses health issues. (still am)
For years I kept noticing something that bothered me:
People were desperate for more information. They'd spend days scouring the internet and reading books on the subject, and the more information they found, the more confused they got. Much of the information conflicted.
Much of the information was presented like law, and implied negligence on the part of the owner if they didn't follow it. A fair amount of the information was a load of old tripe!
I knew there was a need for more inclusive, horse-focused advice (as opposed to guru-focused or ego-focused) so I became determined to do something about that.
That's why I started Hoof Geek.
That's why I'm here today.
I don’t think good advice should need to tear down, insult or berate what anyone else is doing. It shouldn’t be unnecessarily complicated, overly simplified, or incomplete. It shouldn’t be for the ego of the person giving the advice.
It should be for the benefit of the person it’s intended. It should help the horse. It should make your life easier, happier and just plain better!! It shouldn’t make life more difficult, stressful or fill you with guilt or a sense of failure.
It should be about responsibility not blame, observation instead of criticism and recognition rather than judgement.
I can’t promise you that I’ll always be able to live up to such lofty ideals, but I can promise you, that’s what I’m always aiming for.

Seriously, I’m not quite crazy enough to be doing this as an elaborate and public way of talking to myself 🙂 It’s all for you. I’d very much like the blog to be a place where you can find the answers to your questions, support for your concerns and solutions to your problems.
With that in mind, I’m going to need your help. I know it seems a bit rude to be asking you for help from the get go, but bear with me just a moment. While I have a mind full of all sorts of information, some of it useful, some of it less so, I’m not a mind reader. I need you to get involved so more of the useful things than the strange and random things come out.

I’ll do my best to answer as many of your questions as I can, either in the form of an article or a downloadable guide, or even a direct reply via email - depends how deep/specific/random the answer to your question really is.
Please bear in mind that some questions may only take a minute to ask, but the answer could be a whole book! An answer of a few sentences isn’t really going to cut it most of the time.
The point is, most answers will be fairly swift, but for meatier subjects it may take a little longer to do your questions justice, so please be patient. If you need help urgently, then say so and I'll do whatever I can for you.
